What are Lifetime Services?

A number of TomTom devices and smartphone apps come with Lifetime Services.

What does “lifetime” mean?

Lifetime is the useful life of the device, which means the period of time that TomTom continues to support your device with software updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its life when none of these are available any more. The useful life of the smartphone app means the period of time that TomTom continues to support the app with updates. 

Lifetime Services can only be used on the device they have been purchased with and cannot be transferred to another TomTom device or smartphone app.

What Lifetime Services does TomTom offer?

• Lifetime Speed Cameras
• Lifetime Maps

How do I know if my device includes a Lifetime Service?

To find out if your device includes a Lifetime Service, check one of the following:

• Product packaging - The device box will have either one or more of the following icons:

What is Lifetime TomTom Traffic? 

Lifetime TomTom Traffic can be used without additional charge and for as long as the product is supported. Lifetime TomTom Traffic can only be used on the TomTom device that you have purchased and cannot be transferred to another TomTom device or smartphone app.

TomTom Traffic is TomTom’s premium real-time traffic information service. With each new update it pinpoints exactly where delays start and end so you always know your fastest route.

What are Lifetime Speed Cameras?

TomTom Speed Cameras¹ give you accurate alerts for speed cameras. Lifetime Speed Cameras can be used without additional charge and for as long as the product is supported. Lifetime Speed Cameras can only be used on the TomTom device that you have purchased and cannot be transferred to another TomTom device or smartphone app.

How do I activate Lifetime Speed Cameras?

What are Lifetime Maps?

If you buy a navigation device or smartphone app which includes Lifetime Maps, you can download 4 or more full updates of your map every year for the lifetime of your product. Lifetime Maps are available without additional charge and for as long as the product is supported.

The map updates are the full updates for the map that is preinstalled on your device or that is installed on your smartphone app. The geographical coverage and feature support in the map will continue to match the original version, as long as the original is commercially available. You will receive all available updates to road network, addresses and Points of Interest in these releases.

What are Lifetime World Maps? 

When you purchase a navigation device it comes with a specific pre-installed map. If your device includes Lifetime World Maps, you are entitled to install other maps from around the world without additional charge and for as long as the product is supported.

To find out which countries the pre-installed map on your device covers, please check one of the following:

• The product packaging
• TomTom.com or the website of the shop you purchased your device from.

HOW DO I ACTIVATE WORLD MAPS?

To activate Lifetime World Maps, please register your device.

HOW DO I INSTALL ADDITIONAL MAPS?

There are two ways to install extra maps:

1. Install maps on your device’s internal memory
   Depending on the size of the map you choose to install, you may have to replace your current installed map due to memory limitations. You can always reinstall maps you have removed.
2. Install maps on a microSD card (available for purchase separately) inserted in your device
   Using a microSD card for your maps means that the available memory is only limited by the memory size of the microSD card you use in your device.

UPDATING WORLD MAPS

You can download 4 or more full updates of any installed map every year, for the lifetime of your product. You need a computer with an Internet connection to download new maps and map updates.

Map updates are available for any map installed on your device or microSD card. Updates include changes to the road network, addresses and Points of Interest. If you decide to download and install a different map you will always receive the latest map version we have available.

The geographical coverage and feature support in the map will continue to match the original version, as long as the original is commercially available.
