Changes to GSM network in Australia

Click here to see which products/categories this applies to.

Our network operator in Australia has decommissioned its legacy 2G Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network on the 30th of June 2018. Therefore, from 1st of July 2018, our GO 5200/6200 and GO 5100/6100 products have no longer been able to receive TomTom Traffic or mobile speed camera information using their built-in SIM card. All other functions and features have continued to work. For instance, fixed speed cameras can still be downloaded.

Although the closure was beyond our control, we’ve taken measures to minimise the impact of this network closure to ensure that you can continue to use the TomTom services that you bought and rely on.

We have released a new application update which allows your device to connect to your compatible smartphone for access to LIVE Services. To enable the smartphone connectivity, update your device to the latest application. See Updating your device using Wi-Fi

This update is only available for GO 5200 and GO 6200

Once your device is updated with the latest application, you can refer to Connecting to TomTom services with smartphone to connect your compatible smartphone for access to LIVE Services.

If you are the owner of a GO 5200/6200 and GO 5100/6100 impacted by this network closure, you are also eligible for compensation offer from TomTom. In order to know what compensation offer applies to you contact us on 1300 135 604
Monday - Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. AEST

Please have your device's serial number, proof of purchase and registered email address ready so we can help you faster.
