How do I update the speed cameras on my navigation device?

Most TomTom navigation devices come with fixed speed cameras preinstalled.


The information in this FAQ is device specific. To see the information that applies to your device, click Select Product on the right side of the page then find your device by model name or serial number.

IMPORTANT:

If your device uses application version 9.400 or higher and you have an active LIVE subscription, it receives fixed and mobile safety cameras over the air. You do not need to do anything to receive updates - they are sent to your device automatically.
You do have the option to download fixed speed cameras through TomTom HOME.


Before you start

  1. Make sure that your computer is compatible with MyDrive and MyDrive Connect.
  2. Make sure that you are using the latest version of MyDrive Connect. more

MyDrive offers one free update of the fixed speed cameras when you connect your device for the first time. To receive further speed camera updates, you need to have a LIVE Services subscription or a Speed Camera subscription.

Note: GO 5000, GO 6000, GO 500, GO 600 Smartphone Connected and Always Connected devices with an active Speed Camera subscription receive fixed and mobile safety cameras in real time. You do not need to do anything to receive updates – they are sent to your device automatically. You do have the option to download fixed speed cameras using MyDrive.

Note: GO LIVE 2000 series, GO LIVE 1000 series and GO LIVE 800 series using application version 10.500 or higher and an active LIVE subscription, receive fixed and mobile safety cameras in real time. You do not need to do anything to receive updates – they are sent to your device automatically. You do have the option to download fixed speed cameras using MyDrive.


Update speed cameras with MyDrive

To update the fixed speed cameras on your navigation device follow the steps below.

  1. Connect your navigation device to your computer. Switch on your device.

  2. If MyDrive doesn't open automatically in your web browser, click the MyDrive Connect icon (Image or Image) in the Windows notification area or Apple menu bar and then click MyDrive.

  3. If you are not already logged in, enter your email address and click Log in. You can select "Remember my email address" so you don't have to enter it next time.
  4. Login

  5. You see an overview of the number of available updates ready for your device and, if applicable, any items which have expired or are about to expire.

    Note: Make sure you are logged into your MyTomTom account that you used to purchase the Speed Camera subscription. If you are unsure, click Log out to check if the email address used is the same as on the order confirmation email, then log back in using the correct email address.

  7. Click My Content at the top left of the page.

  8. Under MY SPEED CAMERAS, click Update on the speed cameras you want to update.

    Note: This button is called Install if the speed cameras are not installed on your device. Click Install to install the speed cameras on your device.

    Note: The speed cameras offered will depend on your map. If you have a map that covers multiple countries you will be offered speed cameras for each of the countries that TomTom has speed cameras for.

    MyDrive downloads and installs the latest fixed speed cameras.

    Once the installation is complete, the installation screen will close and you are re-directed to the My Content page. Also, the status in MyDrive Connect changes to Connected and you see this icon: Image

  10. When you see the MyDrive Connect icon on your computer and the message on your navigation device that the installation has completed, disconnect your navigation device from your computer.

  11. Enable your speed camera alerts
    To enable speed camera alerts on your device tap Enable alerts in the TomTom Speed cameras menu. more

You can now use your navigation device with the latest fixed speed cameras.

Before you start

TomTom HOME offers one free update of the fixed speed cameras when you connect your device for the first time. To receive further speed camera updates, you need to have a LIVE Services subscription or a speed camera subscription.

Update the speed cameras

To update the fixed speed cameras on your navigation device follow the steps below.

  1. Connect your navigation device to your computer and switch it on.
    TomTom HOME will start automatically. [ more... ]
  2. Log into your MyTomTom account. [ more... ]
  3. If TomTom HOME doesn't check for updates automatically, click Update my device.
  4. Click Download updates. [ more... ]
    TomTom HOME downloads and installs the latest fixed speed cameras.
  5. Click Device > Disconnect Device in the TomTom HOME menu.
    You can then disconnect your navigation device from your computer.
  6. Enable your speed camera alerts
    To enable speed camera alerts on your device tap Enable alerts in the TomTom speed cameras menu. [ show me how... ]
