Linking your navigation device to your MyTomTom account

To receive updates, every TomTom navigation device has to be linked to a MyTomTom account.

Note: You can link only one TomTom navigation device to a MyTomTom account.

How you link a navigation device to a MyTomTom account depends on the program used by your device. Find the correct instructions by selecting one of the options below.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to link the connected navigation device to your MyTomTom account. See the example below.

Multiple devices

If you have multiple TomTom navigation devices, you will need to create a MyTomTom account for each device. You need a separate email address for each MyTomTom account.

Two week restriction

You can change the navigation device that is linked to your MyTomTom account only once every two weeks and this action cannot be undone.

Services and subscriptions

Once you have confirmed that you wish to link your new navigation device to your MyTomTom account, the Map Update Service, LIVE Services or Speed Cameras subscription you may have purchased will be transferred to your new navigation device and can no longer be used with your old navigation device. Any promotions that came with the device (e.g. Lifetime Maps or Traffic) will remain linked to and available on the old navigation device.

Note: Some maps and subscriptions may not be compatible with newer navigation devices.

  1. Connect your new navigation device to your computer.
  2. Open TomTom HOME, if it doesn't start automatically.
    If you haven't installed TomTom HOME on your computer, go to tomtom.com/getstarted
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to log into your MyTomTom account.
    A window opens stating that the connected device is not linked to your account.
  4. Click Update my account from the list of options to link the connected navigation device to your MyTomTom account.
